A structured reference service
Illnessfinder is an educational reference service developed and maintained by Lundberg Selection AB. It helps members organise case information and compare possible conditions in the service's current database.
The service
A comparative result
Members select age, sex, signs and symptoms. The service then orders possible conditions using its existing calculation and registered associations. The result is a comparison within the current data, not an individual probability, diagnosis or treatment recommendation.

Lundberg Selection AB develops and maintains services that organise reference material and make it searchable. Illnessfinder preserves its familiar workflow while presentation, accessibility and security are maintained separately from the calculation.
Clear boundary
The interface distinguishes information entered by the member from the service's result. A higher position means a stronger match within the current calculation, not clinical confirmation.
Ongoing maintenance
Source material, language, methods and technical changes are kept distinct so that each can be reviewed on its own terms.
Use and responsibility
Illnessfinder supports searching and comparing symptoms and other information with conditions recorded in the database. Results provide material for the user’s own review and assessment. Matching does not establish a diagnosis, individual disease risk, dosage or treatment. The tool never replaces healthcare.
Results can neither confirm nor rule out disease and do not assess how urgently care is needed.
Do not delay seeking care or change treatment because of the results.
Practice in Sweden
For practice in Sweden, Chapter 5 Section 1 of the Patient Safety Act (2010:659) restricts certain professional activities by people who are not health care personnel. These include treating certain diseases, examining or treating children under eight, and giving written treatment advice without a personal examination. This provision does not approve the tool or any treatment method.
Health care personnel are subject, among other duties, to Chapter 6 Section 1, requiring practice consistent with science and established professional experience. Chapter 5 Section 1 is therefore not a complete legal framework for all users.
For activities covered by Chapter 5 Section 1, Chapter 10 Section 6 can impose criminal liability for intentionally or negligently causing harm that is not minor, or a risk of such harm. This also applies when the harm or risk arises from interrupting or delaying medical care.
This is an overview of the specified Swedish provisions. Applicable rules depend on the activity, professional role and country of practice.
